Born Jada Koren Pinkett Smith on September 18, 1971 in Baltimore, Maryland, this cool Hollywood actress majored in theatre at the Baltimore School for the Arts, where she met and became friends with Tupac Shakur until his death in 1996. Jada Pinkett-Smith also attended the North Carolina School of the Arts, but soon dropped out to pursue an acting career.
In 1991, Jada Pinkett Smith had her big break when she received a role in the NBC sitcom, “A Different World”. Two years later, she made her feature debut in the 1993 film, Menace II Society. Although she received a couple of on-screen gigs including “Demon Knight”, “Jason’s Lyric” and “The Inkwell”, she did not gain instant and widespread recognition until she played alongside Eddie Murphy in the 1996 remake of “The Nutty Professor”.
In 2001, Jada Smith appeared with her husband Will Smith in the critically acclaimed film, “Ali”, playing the first wife of Cassis Clay. However, Jada won the hearts of all ages worldwide when she starred as the kickass commander Niobe in the Matrix series. Her latest role was in the 2007 film “Reign Over Me” costarring Don Cheadle and Adam Sandler.
